Prisoner dies of asphyxiation in Coimbatore; Case registered and investigation is on

Coimbatore: A prisoner who was arrested for the illegal sale of Ganja died of asphyxiation.

Ramesh, (44), son of Ramayya is from Thevaram in Theni was arrested last June for the illicit sale of Ganja. He was lodged at the Pollachi Sub-jail and was shifted to the Coimbatore Central Prison on July 3rd. He suffered from suffocation, diabetes, and blood pressure.

He was admitted to the hospital after he fell ill a couple of days back and was under treatment at the district Government Hospital. Ramesh died despite undergoing treatment. Coimbatore Central Prison Jailor Sivarajan lodged a complaint with the Race Course Police. Police have registered a case based on the complaint filed and are investigating.
