Coimbatore: The Women's Wing of Federation Of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry(FICCI FLO' has conducted a drive thru vaccination which is first of its kind in Tamil Nadu.
In a press release it is said, "Since the outbreak of the dreaded corona virus, many good Samaritans and organizations across the globe have come forward to support the existing humans by distributing food packets, oxygen cylinders, masks, hand sanitizers, PPE Kits, free ambulance services and likewise the list goes on.
Each state in our nation has had its own challenges to fight through the situation because the pandemic has challenged mankind not just physically but also emotionally and psychologically. Many frontline workers and social workers (including some common men) have put themselves above the rest by serving people in the hospitals, streets and quarantined homes. Anyone can help anytime but those who put their hands up in the toughest of circumstances are the ones, are the ones who truly deserve to be appreciated."
"As the world is in quandary over Covid-19, FICCI FLO Coimbatore has joined hands with Chandran’s Yuva Foundation to conduct a Drive-thru Vaccination in Coimbatore, which is the first of its kind in Tamilnadu. Co-ordinated by Ritisha Niveda, Chairperson and Executive Committee, FICCI FLO Coimbatore, “The vaccines were available only for those who have already registered themselves in advance through FLO COVID Vaccine Google Form. Keeping in mind the Social Distance Norms and to Avoid Crowd, Special Time Slots have been allotted with Three Lanes.
Each car was allotted with a “Unique Code”. FLO wanted this first of its kind experience in Coimbatore to be a seamless drive thru experience which is why each car was also assigned a “Help Buddy” to assist them throughout out. A letter was also attached for E-pass purpose”.
"This drive thru was highly beneficial for senior citizens and physically disabled people to get their Covid-19 vaccines, while sitting inside the vehicle thereby avoiding standing in long ques. The decision was taken after reports from senior citizens who expressed their helplessness in getting vaccinated as waiting in wheelchairs at over crowded centres was a challenge at several walk-in facilities. Buoyant by the idea, a senior citizen at the drive-in facility said, “This is a good initiative, for we have been spared of all those troubles".
"FICCI FLO Coimbatore members have also donated a 100lpm oxygen generator worth 25 Lakhs to ESI hospital. All one needed to do was roll up their sleeves, drive in, Get Jabbed & Drive out. This Vaccine Drive was for FLO members, their family and friends covering 18+(Covishield only). A thorough check list was provided for all the registered candidates which included wearing short sleeve shirt, masks, have a PDF or screenshot of the vaccination letter provided to be displayed when stopped by a police personnel or the campus security.
After getting the vaccine, one had to wait in the parking area for 10-15 minutes before driving off. The vaccinated candidates could access their respective certificates from the CoWIN portal after vaccination using the same mobile number which was used at the time of registration. A total of 350 people received the vaccination during the drive.
Extreme care was taken to ensure that the drive goes on safely and successfully, which is why pregnant women or women anticipating surgery, women on hormone tablets, people who had recovered from Covid-19 (< 3 months) or have had a major surgery recently, drug allergies, dialysis patient, previous history of anaphylactic shock or people using any anti-coagulant drugs and people those who had received TT injection within a month were asked to consult their doctors before getting the Covid-19 vaccine".
