Stone pelting during BJP rally: Anti-fascist coalition petitions for action against Vanathi Srinivasan.
Coimbatore: The anti-fascist coalition has lodged a complaint with the district election officials seeking action against BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan with regard to stone pelting incidents on Muslims during the BJP rally in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.
Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam's Secretary, Ramakrishnan said, "Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned on Wednesday in support of the BJP candidate from Coimbatore South constituency, Vanathi Srinivasan. Earlier, BJP activists from Puliakulam held a rally on two-wheelers to the Thermutti event stage.
During the rally, the BJP cadres witnessed Muslim youth chanting slogans as the BJP rallyists approached the Big Bazaar Street signal. This caused an argument and ended in a tussle. Following this, the BJP cadres attacked the Muslim shops by pelting stones. The police will file a case under charges of not taking prior permission from the election officer to hold a rally."
The Anti-Fascist Alliance lodged a complaint with the District Election Officer, Nagarajan, seeking appropriate action against Vanathi Srinivasan.
