Tirupur: A man was arrested by Tirpur police (south) on the early hours of Thursday, for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat to Tirupur railway station.
Tirupur: A man was arrested by Tirpur police (south) on the early hours of Thursday, for allegedly sending a hoax bomb threat to Tirupur railway station. The man who sent the hoax threat was reported to be in an inebriated state, the police said.

Anand who hails from Theni has been working on Tirupur and staying near old Bus stand area. At 11 pm of Wednesday night, he dialled 108 and alerted the call centre of a bomb threat.

Acting on this, Tirupur police (south) along with railway police led by Assistant Commissioner Suresh Kumar conducted a combing operation throughout the railway station. Bomb squads and sniffer dogs were deployed to rule out the threat. The search lasted till 12 am of Thursday, after which the police ascertained that the call was hoax and inturn traced the caller.
The caller was later found to be a person named Anand, who lives near Tirupur old bus stand and hails from Theni. The Tirupur South Police have informed that it was purely a hoax call and investigations are on with the arrested person who made the hoax call.
