Tamil Desa Puratchi Iyakkam demands constitution of Cauvery Management Tribunal

The non-compliance of the Karnataka Government to release water to Tamil Nadu as per the orders of the Supreme court orders has been persistently condemned by political outfits and the farmers association from Tamil Nadu.

Today, the members of the Tamil Desa Puratchi Iyakkam staged a protest condemning the Karnataka Government's vicious attitude in Cauvery issue at the BSNL Office, here. Nagendra Kumar, Executive Committee Member, while speaking to the press reported that, 'Around 100 years back, Tamil Nadu was receiving 500TMC of water but now it's less than 60 TMC of water. Cauvery being the prime source of water for close than 20 agricultural districts, the denial has questioned the livelihood of the farmers. Hence, the need for devising the Cauvery Management tribunal is a must' ', he said.
