Tirupur: Four years after a man was buried, his remains are being exhumed in Tirupur for DNA analysis in connection to a missing person case reported in Villupuram last year.

In 2007, Selvaraj, son of Muthuvel, hailing from Thurusuli, decided to leave his home in Villupuram. In 2018, 12 years after his son did not return home, Muthuvel decided to lodge a complaint at a Trichy police station. The High Court then ordered the CBCID to take over the investigation. The CBCID compared photos of a suicide victim from 2015 (where the victim jumped from the second storey of a private company) with pictures of the missing Selvaraj.

Doubts arising from this comparison led to the CBCID exhuming the body of the suicide victim, in the presence of the local police. The remains have been sent for further DNA examination.
