Coimbatore : An anti-ragging awareness campaign 2018, organised by the anti-ragging committee of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) and attended by almost 200 students, was held today at the Anna Auditorium, TNAU campus in the city.
Dr. M Jawaharlal, the Dean of Horticulture and Dr. N Varatharaju, Agriculture Engineering, who commended the campaign felt that with ragging being a cognizable offence, students ought not to be influenced by movies which portray ragging scenes as normal in a student's life.

Dr. MJawarhalal praised the chief guest K Periaiah, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore for his leadership qualities when he was a student at TNAU. He said K Periaiah is a dynamic leader and is an exemplary role model for those who wish to be successful.

Periaiah, while addressed the gathering, emphasised the importance of students refraining from criminal offences by sharing some of his own personal life experiences. He concluded his speech by quoting Thirukural, “Theethum nandrum pirar thara vara.”
