Mettupalayam: Baralikadu ecotourism centre which remained closed due to flash floods has been re-opened today.
In the recent years, Barlikadu has become one of the most-sought tourist centres for the people of Coimbatore and nearby areas, as it provides a one of a kind experience which includes coracle ride, tribal lunch, serene environment, forest trek and more.
Following incessant monsoon rains in Pillur catchment area, on a daily basis water was released from the dam to the Bhavani river. Hence, Bhavani river was flooded.
Due to high water inflow and unexpected rains, on June 10 forest department announced that Barlikadu eco-tourism will remain closed until the rains subside.
As the water inflow and rains have subsided, the forest department today announced re-opening of ecotourism in Baralikadu.

Meanwhile, Kovai Kutralam falls here will remain closed for the 2nd consecutive day due to flash floods.
