Daring Daylight Burglary: Eight impersonators held for day light burglary of 30 sovereign and Rs.4 lakh cash in Pooluvapatti near Tirupur

Tirupur: A special police team arrested eight impersonators, who robbed a house after posing as IT sleuths and took away 30 sovereign of gold ornaments, Rs.4 lakh in cash from a house in Pooluvapatti near Tirupur in broad daylight.

According to police a group of five had arrived in Xylo car at the house of Sivakumar (45) situated in Palanisamy Nagar Third Street at Pooluvapatti and introduced themselves as Income Tax sleuths and wanted to conduct a raid.

Sivakumar, running a hosiery unit was away and his wife Santhamani was alone in the house when the impersonators arrived at about 12 noon.

The fivesome then proceeded to grab the jewels and cash from the cupboard locker before seizing the CCTV camera hard disk from the first floor.

The fivesome has informed Santhamani that she and her husband has to come to IT office in Coimbatore to prove the credentials and collect it before they made good their escape.

When Sivakumar was informed about the incident, he rushed to the house only to find out that it was daring daylight burglary by impersonators.

Tirupur Police who arrived at the scene of crime lifted fingerprints and arrested eight persons including Jayaram (42), Karthi (38), Thulasi Sadhguru (39), and police Karthi (37), Venugopal (48), Raghu (27), Arumugam (38), and Muthukumar (25).

“Sivakumar was in the habit of visiting a local club for gambling and won large amounts of money. Jayaram who was also in the habit of visiting the club hatched a conspiracy to rob the money form Sivakumar and other gambler friends joined with him in their burglary attempt ” said a Police official.

The police have seized the Xylo car and 18 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs.1.45 lakh cash from the arrested.
