Coimbatore: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) searched the office of the TVH apartment complex in Singanallur, Coimbatore, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as part of a state-wide operation into an alleged multi-crore cash-for-jobs scam. The Coimbatore property is reportedly linked to the brother of former DMK minister K.N. Nehru.
The search in Coimbatore was one of 25 locations raided across Tamil Nadu on the same day, including Nehru's residence in Thillai Nagar, Tiruchy. The operation followed a Madras High Court order that cleared the way for the DVAC to investigate the alleged scam.
This marks the second round of DVAC searches since September at properties associated with Nehru, including his residence and other premises in Chennai.
The case stems from a complaint filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED), which alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 2,538 Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers and Town Planning Officers in the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department. In its communication to the then Director General of Police, the ED raised allegations of corruption in the recruitment process.
The DVAC had conducted an earlier round of searches in September as part of its probe into alleged recruitment irregularities between 2021 and 2025, when Nehru was serving as the Minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply.
