Coimbatore: With Northeast monsoon rains gaining momentum across the city, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has intensified its ongoing anti-dengue measures to prevent mosquito breeding and curb the spread of dengue.
Corporation staff have been inspecting residential areas and establishments to identify stagnant water, which can serve as a breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes that transmit dengue. As part of the drive, personnel are checking water storage containers, drums and other potential breeding sites for mosquito larvae.
During one such inspection in Ward 92, BK Pudur, Corporation staff examined water containers and drums along Palaniappa Konaar Street and Madurai Veeran Kovil Street to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sources. The inspections aim to detect potential risks early and ensure preventive measures are implemented in vulnerable areas.
With rainfall creating conditions conducive to water stagnation, the civic body is stepping up surveillance and urging residents to keep their surroundings clean, prevent water from accumulating in containers and cooperate with Corporation personnel during inspections.
