Sewage Overflow Floods Eachanari Muthunagar Street, Residents Demand Permanent Fix

Coimbatore: A sewage overflow in Eachanari Muthunagar, along Pollachi Main Road, flooded a residential street around noon, sending foul-smelling wastewater into a nearby construction site and washing away piles of gravel and sand, causing serious sanitation concerns for residents and inconvenience to motorists. The overflow occurred after an underground sewer line reportedly developed a blockage and broke, allowing untreated sewage to spill onto the road and flow into the adjoining construction site, where building materials had been stockpiled.

Residents said such incidents had occurred repeatedly over the past few months. They alleged that despite several complaints to Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation officials, only temporary repairs had been carried out, with no permanent solution to the recurring problem.

The sewage overflow has left the neighbourhood with a persistent foul smell and raised concerns over mosquito breeding and the spread of infectious diseases, including dengue.Residents have urged the Corporation to intervene immediately, repair the damaged sewer line and implement a permanent solution to prevent further sewage overflows.
