Corporation Commissioner Inspects Water Bodies; Directs Officials to Step Up Maintenance

Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, I.A.S., inspected Valankulam and Ukkadam Periyakulam on October 8 to review the maintenance of the city's major water bodies and the public amenities around them. During the inspection, he directed officials to step up regular upkeep and ensure that the facilities provided for residents are properly maintained. The Commissioner reviewed the functioning of CCTV cameras installed around the water bodies and instructed officials to ensure that the surveillance systems remain operational at all times. He also directed officials to promptly address any issues identified through the monitoring systems and keep a close watch on public-use facilities, including pathways and other amenities around the lakes. Particular attention was given to cleanliness and waste management. Katta Ravi Teja instructed the concerned health officials and inspectors to ensure that garbage accumulating around the lakes is removed regularly and that the surrounding areas are maintained in a clean and orderly manner. He further called for necessary maintenance and improvement works to be taken up wherever required, including the provision of additional facilities at suitable locations. Minor repair and maintenance works were also directed to be carried out through appropriate contractual arrangements to ensure timely upkeep. The inspection was attended by Corporation engineers, assistant engineers, health officials, representatives of Lion Services Limited and other civic officials.
