Coimbatore: Bharathiar University organised a blood donation camp on its premises on October 8 to mark National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, with more than 50 volunteers coming forward to donate blood.
The camp was organised in association with the Indian Red Cross Society – Dana Red Cross Blood Centre, Coimbatore, and was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr P. Premasudha, YRC Zonal Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Nano Science and Technology, Bharathiar University. Dr R. Rajavel, Registrar, Bharathiar University, inaugurated the camp and appreciated the voluntary participation of members of the university community in the initiative.
More than 50 volunteers, including faculty members, administrative staff and students, voluntarily donated blood to the Dana Red Cross Blood Centre, Coimbatore.
Mrs U. Poongothai, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Coimbatore, was present at the camp and appreciated Bharathiar University's efforts to promote voluntary blood donation and create awareness about its importance.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from the university community and highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation as a valuable contribution towards saving lives and serving society.
