Scooter Crash, Bike Skid, Bus Mishap: Coimbatore Records Three Road Deaths

Coimbatore: Three people were killed in separate road accidents reported in different parts of Coimbatore over the past few days, with police registering cases and investigating each incident. In the first incident, Vijayakumar, 45, a resident of Abdul Kalam Street in Kovaipudur, was travelling towards Sundakkamuthur on the evening of October 4 when his scooter lost balance and overturned on the road. He suffered severe head injuries in the accident and was rescued and taken to Coimbatore Government Hospital in a critical condition. Despite treatment, Vijayakumar succumbed to his injuries. Based on a complaint lodged by his relative Rathinam, the Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. In another accident on October 6, Vishnu, a resident of Anjugam Nagar in Udayampalayam, was travelling on Mettupalayam Road at around 2.30 am when his motorcycle allegedly lost control and skidded. He was thrown off the vehicle and sustained severe head injuries. Vishnu was immediately rescued and taken to Coimbatore Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Based on a complaint filed by his younger brother Sivakumar, West Traffic Investigation Wing Inspector Viswanathan registered a case and is conducting an investigation. In a third incident at Ukkadam, a 55-year-old woman died after being hit by a town mini-bus while attempting to cross the road. Samsunisha, a resident of the Housing Unit area on Vincent Road in Ukkadam, was attempting to cross Oppanakara Street near the Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple when a town mini-bus travelling from Ukkadam towards Town Hall hit her. She fell onto the road in the impact and sustained severe injuries, including fractures to her head, abdomen and right leg. Passers-by rescued her and rushed her to Coimbatore Government Hospital by ambulance, but doctors who examined her declared that she had already died. Based on a complaint filed by her relative, the West Traffic Investigation Wing police registered a case against the mini-bus driver, Sandeep Kumar, 27, a resident of Karupparayan Kovil Street in Vadavalli. Police are continuing the investigation into the accident.
