Road Laying to Begin on Thanneer Pandal–CODISSIA Stretch; UGD Work Wraps Up
SimpliCity News Team · 2 hours ago
Coimbatore: With the completion of underground drainage (UGD) and 24-hour drinking water scheme works along the Thanneerpandal Road–CODISSIA Main Road stretch, road restoration works are all set to commence, bringing relief to motorists who have been facing considerable inconvenience along the important connecting road.
The stretch had been excavated at several points to facilitate the UGD and drinking water pipeline works, leaving the road in a battered condition and affecting the smooth movement of vehicles.
Following the completion of the underground infrastructure works, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, IAS, inspected the stretch and directed officials to take up the road restoration works at the earliest.
The Commissioner instructed the concerned officials to expedite the road-laying works, particularly as the stretch witnesses considerable vehicular movement and serves as an important connecting route.
With the Northeast Monsoon set to commence, motorists have also stressed the need to complete the restoration works at the earliest, noting that uneven road surfaces and potholes could add to traffic-related difficulties and increase the risk of accidents during rainy conditions.
As part of the inspection, the Commissioner also reviewed the ongoing 24-hour drinking water scheme works in Jeganathan Nagar in Ward No. 24.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Krishnamoorthy, Executive Engineer Devadas, Assistant Executive Engineer Ilangovan (in-charge), Zonal Health Officer Chandran, Assistant Engineer Ravikannan and other Corporation officials.
