Coimbatore: Special Gram Sabha meetings held on Gandhi Jayanti across several villages in Coimbatore's Periyanayakkanpalayam block witnessed strong public participation, with residents raising concerns on various issues ranging from essential amenities to other civic needs.
The meetings were held in Ashokapuram, Kurudampalayam, Somayampalayam, Pannimadai, Nanjundapuram and Thadagam panchayats. Residents from different parts of the respective panchayats, along with representatives of various political parties, participated in the meetings and submitted petitions seeking basic amenities.
In Ashokapuram, the Gram Sabha meeting was held at the panchayat office premises under the supervision of Block Development Officer Malavan. Panchayat Secretary Shanmugam read out the agenda of the meeting. The proceedings began with floral tributes being paid to Mahatma Gandhi's portrait, after which residents submitted petitions seeking basic amenities in their respective areas.
In Kurudampalayam, the special Gram Sabha meeting was held at the Shanmuga Nagar Government Middle School premises. Panchayat Secretary Eswari read out the meeting agenda, following which floral tributes were paid to Gandhi's portrait. Residents who attended the meeting submitted petitions seeking various basic facilities in their localities.
At Pannimadai, the special Gram Sabha meeting was held at the Thaliyur Community Welfare Centre under the supervision of Union Engineer Srinivasan. Panchayat Secretary Sathish read out the meeting agenda. Following floral tributes to Gandhi's portrait, residents submitted petitions seeking basic amenities and improvements in their areas.
In Nanjundapuram, the special Gram Sabha meeting was conducted at the panchayat office premises under the supervision of Panchayat Union Assistant Kalavathi. Panchayat Secretary Leela Krishnan read out the meeting agenda. Following the floral tribute to Gandhi's portrait, residents submitted petitions seeking basic facilities in their areas.
A special Gram Sabha meeting was also held at the Government Higher Secondary School premises in Chinna Thadagam. The meeting was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Block Development Officer (Audit) Sornam Ammal. Village Panchayat Secretary Prakash read out the meeting agenda. Residents participated in the proceedings and submitted petitions seeking basic amenities.
Across the meetings, residents used the Gram Sabha platform to voice their local concerns and place their requirements for basic amenities and other civic needs on record.
