Coimbatore Collector, Ministers Greet CM Joseph Vijay on Arrival at Airport

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C Joseph Vijay arrived at Coimbatore International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, en route to Dharapuram to attend a public meeting as part of the party’s campaign for the October 6 Assembly bypoll.

He was received at the airport by Coimbatore District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanavar, senior police officers, ministers and senior government officials. A large number of TVK party members and fans had gathered along the airport route to welcome him.

In view of the Chief Minister’s visit and the expected gathering of supporters, elaborate security arrangements were made along the route. A three-tier security arrangement was put in place at key locations to regulate the crowd and ensure the safety of the Chief Minister. Traffic restrictions and diversions have also been announced along several stretches of Coimbatore in connection with his movement.

The CM has now left Coimbatore by road and is en route to Dharapuram, where he is scheduled to address a public meeting at around 3 p.m.

The meeting is being held as part of the TVK’s campaign for its candidate P Sathyabama in the Dharapuram (SC) Assembly constituency. The party has restricted entry to the meeting venue to 5,000 people carrying QR-code passes.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to leave Dharapuram after the public meeting and return to Coimbatore International Airport by road. He is expected to depart from Coimbatore at 6.15 p.m. today on his return journey to Chennai.
