Coimbatore–Nagercoil and Two Other Train Services Altered on Sep 29 and Oct 1

Train services on three routes will be affected on September 29 and October 1 due to sleeper renewal and track maintenance works being carried out between Murthipalayam and Karur railway stations, the Salem Division of Southern Railway has announced.

According to the notification, Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express, scheduled to depart Sengottai at 5.20 am, will be short-terminated at Karur Junction on both days. After the completion of the maintenance works, the train will operate as an unreserved special train from Karur to Erode Junction, maintaining the same stoppages as the regular service.

Similarly, Train No. 16844 Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli Express, scheduled to leave Palakkad Town at 6.30 am, will be short-terminated at Pugalur railway station, located between Kodumudi and Karur. After the works are completed, it will operate as an unreserved special train from Pugalur to Tiruchchirappalli Junction, with the same stoppages as the regular service.

Meanwhile, Train No. 16322 Coimbatore–Nagercoil Express, scheduled to depart Coimbatore Junction at 8 am, will run on a diverted route between Coimbatore and Dindigul via Podanur, Pollachi and Palani on September 29 and October 1.

As a result, the train will skip its regular stoppages at Coimbatore North, Pilamedu, Singanallur, Irugur, Sulur Road, Somanur, Tiruppur, Uttukuli, Ingur, Erode, Pasur, Kodumudi, Pugalur, Karur, Palaiyam and Eriodu.

Alternative stoppages will be provided at Podanur, Kinattukkadavu, Pollachi, Udumalaippettai, Palani and Oddanchatram railway stations.

Passengers travelling on these routes have been advised to take note of the changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
