Former AIADMK MLA's Wife Joins Naam Tamilar Katchi After Denied Assembly Election Ticket

Kalaiselvi, wife of late AIADMK MLA Amul Kandasamy from Valparai constituency, joined Naam Tamilar Katchi after being denied opportunity to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections from AIADMK. She announced her decision at the party's candidate introduction meeting in Valparai on March 29.

Coimbatore: Kalaiselvi, wife of former AIADMK legislator Amul Kandasamy, has joined Naam Tamilar Katchi after the ruling party denied her opportunity to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections from Valparai constituency.

Amul Kandasamy, who represented the Valparai Assembly constituency in Coimbatore district as an AIADMK member, passed away last year due to health complications. Following his demise, his wife Kalaiselvi had submitted an application expressing her desire to contest from the Valparai constituency on AIADMK ticket in the upcoming Assembly elections. However, her request was rejected by the party leadership.

Meanwhile, Naam Tamilar Katchi organized an introduction meeting for their Valparai constituency candidate Umadevi on March 29, presided over by the party's State Coordinator Meithyu. During this event, Kalaiselvi participated and formally announced her decision to join Naam Tamilar Katchi.

Addressing the gathering, Kalaiselvi stated that since she was not given an opportunity to contest on behalf of AIADMK, she decided to join Naam Tamilar Katchi. Her entry into the party is seen as a significant development in the Valparai constituency ahead of the Assembly elections.

The move highlights the internal dynamics within AIADMK and the growing appeal of alternative political platforms like Naam Tamilar Katchi among disgruntled party members.
