KMCH hosts digital healthcare workshop on AI, cybersecurity and data protection

KMCH conducted a workshop in Coimbatore focusing on AI, cybersecurity and data protection in healthcare ahead of CAHOCON 2026, highlighting key digital challenges.

A high-level workshop on digital transformation in healthcare was organised by [Kovai Medical Center and Hospital](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=0) at Le Meridien in Coimbatore, focusing on emerging challenges in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data protection.

The workshop, titled “New Digital Healthcare: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP),” addressed three key areas impacting modern healthcare systems — practical implementation of AI, rising cybersecurity threats in hospitals and compliance with data protection laws.

KMCH Executive Director [Dr Arun Palanisamy](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=1) stated that healthcare institutions are increasingly facing complex digital challenges and must adapt quickly to evolving technologies and regulatory frameworks.

The event also served as a curtain-raiser for CAHOCON 2026, scheduled to be held from April 10 to 12 at the Chennai Trade Centre, along with South Asia’s first ISQua regional conference. The conference is expected to witness participation from over 2,500 global delegates and healthcare leaders.

Under the leadership of KMCH Chairman and Managing Director [Dr Nalla G Palaniswami](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=2), the conference will focus on the theme “Technology, Care and Trust – The New Healthcare Paradigm.”

Experts from various domains spoke on key topics during the workshop. Dr Mathew Cherian, Head of Radiology at KMCH, discussed the application of AI in radiology, while Dr R. Subramaniam explained how AI is improving precision in cancer treatment.

Karthi Purushothaman, CEO of 1Hat Solutions, highlighted India’s growing role in global healthcare AI innovation. Biju Velayudhan, Chief Information Officer of [Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital](chatgpt://generic-entity?number=3), spoke on the role of digital tools in ensuring patient safety.

Arunachalam, Director of Ninth Dimension, elaborated on safeguarding patient data under the DPDP Act, while Ravishankar of Aosta India addressed the increasing cybersecurity threats faced by healthcare institutions.

Speaking at the event, Dr Nalla G Palaniswami emphasised that the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare is no longer optional but essential for delivering high-quality medical care. He added that initiatives like this workshop reinforce Coimbatore’s position as a key hub for medical innovation.

The session began with a welcome address by KMCH Chief Operating Officer Dr Sivakumar, while CAHOCON organising team member Rabina delivered the vote of thanks.
