PPG College of Technology Organizes Voter Awareness Rally Ahead of Assembly Elections

PPG College of Technology in Coimbatore conducted a voter awareness rally at Race Course area with over 300 students participating. The event featured traditional silambam performances, skating demonstrations, and the election mascot Iruvaachi bird to encourage first-time voters ahead of April 23 Assembly elections.


Coimbatore: PPG College of Technology organized a voter awareness rally today ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for April 23. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the student community to promote electoral awareness among voters.

The rally was conducted in the Race Course area of Coimbatore with more than 300 students actively participating in the awareness campaign. As part of the state government's initiative and various educational institutions' efforts to create voter awareness, this event aimed to encourage citizens, particularly first-time voters, to exercise their franchise.

The unique feature of this rally was the creative participation of students who carried awareness banners while performing traditional silambam and skating demonstrations. The procession was colorful and engaging, attracting the attention of passersby and residents in the area.

The event also featured Vaakuveeran Iruvaachi, the bird mascot officially introduced as the election symbol for voter awareness campaigns. The presence of this mascot added an element of attraction and helped in connecting with the younger generation of voters.

Professors and students who participated in the rally emphasized the importance of voting in a democracy. They urged all eligible voters to mandatorily cast their votes on election day and specifically appealed to first-time voters to think carefully and participate in the electoral process without fail.

The participants highlighted that only through active participation in voting can citizens elect a good Chief Minister who will serve the people effectively. They stressed that every vote counts and that exercising one's franchise is not just a right but also a responsibility of every citizen in a democratic nation.

Such awareness campaigns by educational institutions play a crucial role in building civic consciousness among young voters and ensuring higher voter turnout in elections.
