Free Medical Camp Benefiting Pregnant Women Under Kalaignar’s Varumun Kaappom Scheme Held in Dharapuram

The scheme inaugurated by Minister Kayalvizhi, provides vital healthcare support to pregnant women, emphasizing nutrition and medical check-ups, benefiting over 250 individuals.


Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: Addressing the healthcare needs of expectant mothers, the ‘Kalaignar’s Varumun Kaappom’ initiative organized a free medical camp in Dharapuram, near the city of Tiruppur. Under the esteemed guidance of Minister Kayalvizhi, the camp aimed to provide proper nutrition to pregnant women as per medical recommendations.

The event, held at the Ponnapuram Community Center, witnessed the participation of local leaders. E.S. Senthilkumar, the head of the Tiruppur District Council, and Panner Selvam, the Perur Panchayat Officer, were among those present. Minister Kayalvizhi inaugurated the camp, where ten pregnant women received nutrition kits and medicines after thorough health check-ups conducted by medical professionals.

Minister Kayalvizhi addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet during pregnancy. She urged expectant mothers to consume nutritious food, as recommended by doctors, for the well-being of both the mother and child.

The medical camp, supported by government healthcare workers and nutritionists, focused on health screenings, including ultrasound scans, CBC tests, and body mass index measurements. Approximately 250 women, including 600 individuals in total, underwent health evaluations.

Officials from the State Health Department, including K.S. Dhanasekar, the State Coordinator, and Selvaraj, the District Administrative Officer, actively contributed to the successful implementation of the camp. Local leaders, including Kanishwari, the Perur Panchayat Head, and Anganwadi workers, collaborated to ensure the event’s smooth execution.

This initiative, under the Varumun Kaappom scheme, demonstrates the government’s commitment to enhancing maternal and child healthcare, providing valuable support to pregnant women in the region.
