Footfalls reduce due to rising vegetable prices in Ukkadam vegetable market

As per the current prices, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 100 per kg, apple tomato at Rs 120 per kg, small onion at Rs 200 per kg, garlic at Rs 180 per kg, ginger at Rs 260 per kg, carrot at Rs 60 per kg, beetroot at Rs 40 per kg, brinjal at Rs 50 per kg, potato at Rs 30 per kg, drumstick at Rs 50 per kg and big onion at Rs 25 per kg.



Coimbatore: The prices of various vegetables have gone up in the last few days due to the monsoon and the low inflow of vegetables from outside the state.



Especially the prices of tomato and small onion have gone up. Apart from this, the ukkadam vegetable market, which is always crowded, is now deserted due to the increase in the prices of ginger and beans.

Prices of tomatoes, small onions and ginger, which are essential for daily cooking, have been on the rise.



So the market looks deserted as the public is not interested in buying vegetables.

It is to be noted that the price of tomatoes has come down as compared to the previous days.
