oimbatore: The main pipe of the Athikadavu-Pillur drinking water supply 1st project near Periyanayakanpalayam has been breached and water is being wasted.

Since 2020, the construction of a flyover from Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya to Vannankovil near Periyanayakanpalayam in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs 88 crore is in progress. Due to this, the traffic congestion in the area is increasing day by day. It is in the dust that people go there every day.

In the same area, on the road from Periyanayakanpalayam to Mettupalayam, the main water pipeline runs through the Athikadavu-Pillur drinking water project. This evening, the water pipe broke and the water flowed like a river flood in Periyanayakan Palayam.

The water supply and drainage board was immediately informed about this. The water could not be stopped immediately as it was the main water pipe. Due to this, crores of litres of water were wasted. It has been reported that the Water Supply and Drainage Board will work during the night.

It is learnt that there will be no supply of drinking water through the Athikkadavu-Pillur project for the next two days. There was also a traffic jam. Seeing this, the people of the area took videos and photos on their mobile phones and shared them on Facebook and WhatsApp.
