Residents stage road blockade on Thadagam road against TASMAC liquor outlet operating near School

The protestors argued that a school is functioning in the vicinity of the TASMAC and students are affected by the liquor shop. Moreover, drunk driving and accidents have become recurring incidents due to the TASMAC shop.

Coimbatore: Irate residents staged a road blockade at KNG Pudur near Thadagam, demanding the closure of a TASMAC liquor outlet in their locality.

A TASMAC outlet with permission to sell foreign liquor (FL2) is functioning at KNG Pudur, where tipplers congregate in large numbers. A marriage hall has been lately converted into a liquor shop and it has become a public nuisance, allege residents.

The protestors argued that a school is functioning in the vicinity and students are affected by the liquor shop. Moreover, drunk driving and accidents have become recurring incidents due to the TASMAC shop.

Police who arrived at the spot pacified the protesters and promised to take up the issue with the concerned authorities. The protesters later gave up the road blockade and dispersed.

Traffic was affected for a brief time due to the road blockade.
