Miscreants break into small and marginal shops in city's Vadavalli area

The Traders' Association has demanded that the police intensify patrolling to track down miscreants breaking into shops in and around Vadavalli, in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Even as miscreants barged into small and marginal shops in Vadavalli area in Coimbatore, the Coimbatore Vadavalli Traders Federation lodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police station.

In areas of Vadavalli where small and marginal traders are running their business, especially in Vadavalli, Somayampalayam, Kalveerampalayam and Kanuvai, etc. there have been reports of miscreants roaming around the shops and breaking open the locks of the shop to loot the shops, including cash and expensive cell phones.

On July 3 at around 3 am in the Kanuvai area, miscreants broke into a fancy shop and stole a mobile phone from it.



Based on the CCTV footage, the Vadavalli Traders' Federation lodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police station on Monday.

CCTV footage of the incident has also been handed over to the police. The police said that they are patrolling intensely at night and deploying more policemen to protect the shops of small traders.

A special squad will also be formed to nab the culprits involved in the theft.
