Dr. P Guhan has been awarded the honour for his exemplary service to poor patients under the TN Chief Minister's CMCHIS.
Coimbatore: On National Doctors' Day, Dr. P Guhan, Director and Chief Oncologist of Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR), Coimbatore has been awarded the 'Certificate of Recognition for the Best Doctor' for his exemplary services to poor patients under the Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS).

The celebratory event was organised by the District Collector of Coimbatore, G S Sameeran and the district-level committee members, and virtually joined in by the National Health Authority Team.
Dr. P Guhan thanked the Government of Tamil Nadu for honouring and recognising his service as a doctor. "This award is really meant for my team SRIOR who have made this happen. Such awards and honours will definitely inspire more young specialists to render more services to poor patients under the CM’s scheme in all fields of medicine in the future," stated Dr. P Guhan.
Ever since 2008 when the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Comprehensive Insurance Scheme was announced, SRIOR has been treating the maximum number of cancer patients under the Scheme, till date. In 2009, the late former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi awarded Dr. P Guhan for treating more cancer patients under the Scheme.
