Tourist Alert: After Week-Long Closure, Kovai Kutralam Falls Reopens

Coimbatore: Kovai Kutralam Falls, a popular eco-tourism destination in the Siruvani Hills, will reopen to visitors from Thursday, the Forest Department has announced, after being shut last week due to flash flood concerns.
The waterfall had been closed to tourists following heavy rainfall in the Siruvani Hills, which caused a sharp increase in water flow and raised fears of flash floods. The Forest Department suspended visitor entry as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.
In its earlier advisory, the Boluvampatti Forest Range Officer had stated that the destination would remain closed until the water flow receded and conditions returned to normal, adding that tourist access would resume only after the Forest Department inspected the site and declared it safe for visitors.
With flooding having eased, the Forest Department has now announced the reopening of the falls from Thursday. The Sadivayal elephant camp will also be open to tourists during its regular operating hours, officials said.
