Koniamman temple fest in Coimbatore; traffic diverted for festival

The famous Koniamman Temple Chariot festival in Coimbatore is scheduled to begin at 2 pm on the 2nd of March and the traffic in the city has been diverted which will come into force from 12.00 pm to 8 pm on the fest day.


Coimbatore: The district police department has stated that traffic will be diverted in Coimbatore on 2nd march, tomorrow, owing to the Koniamman Temple fest.

The annual car festival at the Koniamman temple in Coimbatore is celebrated tomorrow, 2nd march, this year. Traffic has been diverted from 12 pm to 8 pm in the city owing to the festival.

Traffic will be diverted as follows:-

1. All vehicles coming into the city from Palakkad and Pollachi Road via Ukkadam can pass through Sungam Bypass, Railway Over Bridge and Trichy Road Classic Tower.

2. All vehicles from Palakkad and Pollachi Road to Thadagam Road and Mettupalayam Road via Ukkadam Road can reach Gandhi Park via Sunnambu Kalavai Puttuvikki Road, Sethuma Vaikkal Checkpost, Sivalaya Junction, Ramamoorthy Road.

3. Vehicles from Avinashi Road should take Avinashi Flyover and pass through Goodshed Road and heavy vehicles should pass through Classic Tower while light vehicles via Vincent Road.

4. All vehicles from Trichy Road to Perur via Vaishyal Road can reach Ukkadam via Sungam Bypass Road and reach Sivalaya Junction via Perur Bypass Road.

5. Vehicles coming into the city from Perur via Chetty Street and Raja Street can reach Gandhi Park via Salivan Street and reach the places to reach the city.

6. Vehicles from Perur to Palakkad Road can turn right at Sivalaya junction and pass through Puttuvikki Road and Ukkadam to reach Ukkadam via Perur Bypass Road.

7. All vehicles from Thadagam Road to Palakkad can reach Ukkadam via Ponniah Rajapuram, Chokambudur, Sivalaya Theatre Junction and Perur Bypass Road.

8. Vehicles from Sukkarawarpet Road to Raja Road via Telugu Brahmin Road can reach Sivalaya Junction via Gandhipark and Chokambudur Road.

9. Vehicles are not permitted to pass from Sukkarawarpet Road to Raja Road via Tyagi Kumaran Road.

10. Heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter the city from 06.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m.

11. No vehicle is permitted to park from 06.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. on Raja Road, Oppanakkara Street Road, Vaishya Road and KG Road.

On behalf of the police, it is requested that the public cooperates and adheres to the above temporary traffic change.
