Coimbatore: From checking class schedules to accessing examination results, campus information could soon be just a tap away for students, thanks to a digital initiative by a final-year student of Park College of Engineering and Technology in Coimbatore.
T. Mohnraj, a final-year student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, built the application with the aim of simplifying campus life by consolidating academic information and college services that are otherwise accessed through multiple channels.
The application is built using Flutter and is designed to run on both Android and iOS devices, with GitHub supporting its development workflow. It integrates several features, including real-time notifications, digital timetables, attendance records, examination results, faculty and department information, event updates and other student services.
"By consolidating these functions into a single application, the initiative aims to reduce the need to access information through multiple channels and provide students with a more convenient way to stay connected with campus activities and academic updates," said Mohnraj.
Lauding the initiative, Dr. Anusha Ravi, CEO of Park Institutions, said instant access to information had become essential in today's fast-paced digital environment, adding that 'Smart College' addresses this growing need.
"The project reflects a student-led approach to applying technical knowledge to practical institutional needs, with an emphasis on automation, centralised information access and mobile-first technology," she said.
Dr. Anusha Ravi further noted that Mohnraj's application exemplifies the creativity and practical skills that Park Institutions seeks to nurture among its students.
