Sandalwood smuggled in Saibaba Colony: Two arrested by Special police team

Coimbatore: Two people have been arrested in connection with the sandalwood smuggling case that took place in Saibaba Colony, recently. 

The duo were arrested by the special team of Police near Saibaba Colony on Monday. The accused have been identified as Ramalingam from Thirupathur in Vellore district and Pungan (a) Mahendran from the same region. They were produced in the Court and remanded. 

On July 30, a 30-feet tall sandalwood tree was smuggled from the residence of Premkumar from Bharathi park 2nd street, Saibaba colony here. Based on the complaint from the house owner, the police carried out investigations and a special team was formed to nab the culprits.
