Police plans to book repeat offenders in the City under Goondas act
Following the brazen daylight murder attempt on Avinashi road on Tuesday, a four-member gang has been arrested by the special team formed under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (law & order).
During investigation the police have found that all the four members of the arrested gang and the two people, Pradeep and Tamilvannan who were attacked all are repeat offenders booked in various criminal cases in the past.
The convicts Satish, Surya, Hariharan and Dhanabal gave their confessions to the police, today. Confession
“Two months back, Pradeep along with two of his friends murdered our friend Santhoshkumar. His two friends were booked under GOONDAS act and were remanded. But Pradeep, somehow managed to get bail. Seeing Pradeep roam freely frustrated us and we also heard that he has planned to kill us.
Hence, we plotted a murder plan to kill him. On Tuesday, we planned to murder him at Ganapathy, but we couldn't execute. Later, we caught him at Avinashi road and stabbed Pradeep and his friend who accompanied him."
The police are contemplating to book the four member gang and the victim under GOONDAS act for their repeated involvement in criminal offences. These criminals pose danger to the society and are not guilty or shameful of learning from their mistakes.
However, the condemnation by the public and human right activists deem to be hindrance for the police to initiate Goondas act on these offenders and ensure public safety.
