Man robbed at knife-point in Singanallur bus stand

Coimbatore : A young man was robbed at knife-point near Singanallur bus stand on Sunday night. 

The incident took place when Venkatesan (35) of Theni district was waiting to board a bus at Singanallur bus stand after attending an interview at a private company here. 

According to police reports, at 11 pm on Sunday, two unknown men approached Venkatesan and brandished knives demanding his wallet. The duo then grabbed the cash from his wallet and fled. 

Police say that based on the complaint by Venkatesan at the Singanallur police station, Inspector Anand and Sub-Inspector Arjun patrolled the area and became suspicious of two men who were strolling near the Singanallut railway gate. 

The police interrogated the duo and it was confirmed that the duo were involved in several burglary cases in the city and had stolen cash from Venkatesan at knife-point. The duo have been identified as Abbas (19) and Ashok (23) from SIHS colony here. The police retrieved the knife from the duo and remanded them in prison.
