'Diya' – a first-of-a-kind expo, by women for women to be held at CODISSA

Coimbatore : CII’s IWN and Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women jointly launched the first edition of the women entrepreneurs empowerment expo 'Diya,'

Diya aims at creating an atmosphere that will bring out the spirit of entrepreneurship in the womenfolk of Coimbatore, through the weekend fair at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Centre from December 7-9, where entry is free.


Diya is said to be the first-of-its-kind Expo in Coimbatore, being solely dedicated to women in society. It will provide a platform for all women entrepreneurs from any possible field to come under one roof to exhibit their products, services, host dynamic workshops and share their ideas. Even the food court will be catered to by women.

“IWN is an all India organization with more than 20 chapters across India, we have more than 50 members in our team and are looking for many other resourceful women members to add to our network. We aim towards emphasizing on gender equality and enhance learning skills of women for a better-developed society", stated Sangeetha Ashwin,  Convenor for the expo.

She also highlighted the highlights of the event including the felicitation of women achievers in the field of Sports, social service and entrepreneurship from Coimbatore.

"This is the first large-scale organized for the women of Tamil Nadu. We look forward for a huge support from the public to help and encourage the women entrepreneurs to reach new heights. Following, the success of this expo, we aim to add new advancements in the upcoming years", said Mr. C.R. Swaminathan, past Chairman of CII whose helping towards the framework of the expo.

There will be over 100 stalls from all over Tamil Nadu, of which 45 are from Coimbatore. A 10,000 visitor footfall is expected at the Expo. There will also be exclusive sessions for all visitors which will be handled by experts in different fields on early entrepreneurship, personal grooming and business strategy. An exclusive session on promoting women franchise by Blue Star Water Purifiers is to be held. Cookery classes and entertainment will be the apparent add-on.A special performance by the PSG musical band is on the anvil for Sunday.

As part of Diya, women achievers like Sanjana Vijayakumar, MD, Town & City Developers (for Entrepreneurship), Latha Sundaram, Managing Trustee of Aram Foundation (for Social Service) and Gayathri Nithyanandham, Gold medalist rifle shooter, Asian Games 2018 (for Sports) will be felicitated.
