Aathupalam Toll Plaza handed over to NHAI for implementation of Ukkadam-Aathupalam flyover project, 117 crore fund allocated
As part of the implementation of the Ukkadam–Aathupalam flyover project, the toll plaza near Aathupalam has been handed over to the National Highway Authorities. Minister SP Velumani had earlier formally handed over the GO effecting the handover of the toll plaza to Thangaraj, the Assistant Engineer of NHAI.
According to the officials of the Highways Department, about 90 percent of the land acquisition for the flyover project has already been completed. The work for the project commenced in April, with the project involving a total estimated cost of Rs.216 crore.
The flyover to be laid spans over 1.95 kms and will cover the Karumbukkadai-Ukkadam Selvapuram stretch. The flyover will have 55 pillars and will be implemented at the cost of Rs.131 crore with work being expedited.
According to Highway officials, in the first phase, work had commenced for the Ukkadam bus stand - Karumbukkadai stretch, and at present work is being undertaken for the Karumbukkadai–Aathupalam stretch. A fund of Rs.117 crore has been allocated for the new stretch.
