Traffic diversions in the city owing to Ganesh Chaturthi Visarjana procession

Coimbatore: With the first phase of the Visarjana procession due tomorrow, the police have imposed traffic diversions in the city. The Visarjana procession and Vinayagar idols immersion have been organised by various Hindu organisations including Hindu makkal katchi, Hindu munnani, Bharath sena and Vishwa hindu parishad.

The procession starting from Dharmaraja temple in Kuniamuthur will pass through the Palghat main road, with the idols to be immersed in the Kuniamuthur lake. Another procession will start from Saradha Mill at 2 pm and pass through Pollachi road via Sundarapuram and reach Kurichi lake where idols will be immersed. 

In public interest, based on the orders from Coimbatore city Police Commissioner, periaiah, traffic diversions have been imposed. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, Sujith Kumar, hundreds of policemen will be on duty to manage the crowd and control traffic. Lorries will not be allowed inside the city from tomorrow afternoon.

From 2 pm tomorrow, vehicles travelling towards Pollachi from Ukkadam will pass through Podanur bazaar street, Railway hall, new flyover, G.D tank to reach Pollachi road. Buses from Palakkad road toward Ukkadam will pass through Kulathapalayam from Kovaipudur, reach Ashram school junction and Ukkadam through Puttuvikki road. Vehicles from Pollachi road to Palakkad road via Sundarapuram will have to divert near Mahalakshmi temple on the left and reach Madukkarai market. To pass through Pilliarpuram junction, public is advised to turn left to Sugunapuram to get on to Palakkad road. Vehicles from Pollachi road via Sundarapuram can turn right from Eachanari, cross the Eachanari chettipalayam road, G.D. tank, Podanur new flyover, Podanur bazaar, Kurichi pirivu and reach Ukkadam via Aathupalam.
