At a consultative meeting with owners and management representatives of FL-2 and FL-3 bars, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Pavan K. Reddy directed them to strictly comply with licence conditions and regulations, warning of stringent action against violations.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Pavan K. Reddy, IPS, has directed owners and management representatives of FL-2 and FL-3 bars functioning within the district police limits to strictly adhere to licence conditions, government regulations and other applicable norms.

A consultative meeting with the bar owners and management representatives was held at the District Police Office on September 9 under the chairmanship of the District Superintendent of Police.

During the meeting, he stressed the need for bar owners and managements to act responsibly to prevent law and order problems and ensure that no untoward incidents occurred in or around their premises.

Among the instructions issued, the police said liquor should not be served to non-members or persons below 21 years of age under any circumstances. Particular care should also be taken in dealing with non-members, including persons from other States, while membership and other prescribed records should be properly maintained and updated.

The bar owners were directed to immediately report any dispute, quarrel, altercation, suspicious activity or other untoward incident, however minor, occurring within or around the premises to the jurisdictional police station.

They were also instructed to install and maintain CCTV cameras in proper working condition to adequately cover the interior and exterior of the premises, including entry and exit points and other important locations. CCTV footage should be preserved for a minimum of three months and produced before the police whenever required for lawful purposes.

The SP also directed that liquor permitted for consumption within the licensed premises should not be allowed to be taken outside under any circumstances. All conditions governing the sale and consumption of liquor should be strictly followed.

He reiterated that stringent action would be taken against establishments found violating the prescribed licence conditions and regulations.
