Coimbatore’s KG Hospital has launched the advanced CUVIS Joint Robotic Knee Replacement System, marking a major step forward in orthopaedic care. Combining advanced 3D CT-based imaging with robotic assistance, the technology enables surgeons to achieve greater precision, improved implant alignment, reduced tissue trauma, and faster patient recovery.
Briefing attendees on the clinical benefits of the system, senior surgeons from the Department of Orthopaedics explained that the surgeon-controlled robotic platform allows for detailed pre-operative planning based on a patient’s anatomy, helping doctors perform highly accurate bone cuts and implant placement. Hospital authorities said the technology is expected to improve overall surgical outcomes while reducing post-operative pain and enhancing mobility.
Further highlighting the effectiveness of the system, specialists revealed that the hospital has already successfully performed its first robotic-assisted total knee replacement surgery using the newly introduced technology on a 65-year-old woman suffering from severe osteoarthritis.
Doctors said the patient had been experiencing chronic knee pain, swelling, deformity, and difficulty carrying out routine daily activities. Following the robotic-assisted procedure, she is recovering well with significantly reduced pain and improved mobility.
