Palladam police seized approximately 707 kilograms of banned gutka products allegedly transported from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu for sale. Two persons have been arrested and the vehicle used for smuggling was confiscated.
Tiruppur: Acting on a tip-off, Palladam police launched a search operation in the Chettipalayam Road area over the illegal storage of banned gutka products.

A police team led by Inspector Mathaiyan rushed to the spot and conducted an intensive search operation. During the inspection, police questioned two persons found under suspicious circumstances in the area. However, both reportedly gave contradictory statements during interrogation.

Subsequently, police searched the car used by the suspects and discovered a large quantity of banned gutka products concealed inside the vehicle. The duo was then taken to the police station for further inquiry.
Investigation revealed that the accused were identified as Lodha Baba Bhai from Gujarat and Rajendran from Karnataka. Police also found that the banned tobacco products were being transported from Karnataka into Tamil Nadu for illegal sale.
