Govt should launch New Online app for auto booking and new tariffs decided at 14th District Conference of Autorickshaw workers Union

During the Auto Workers Union District Conference, it was stressed that Coimbatore Auto Workers should talk to the unions and fix a fair meter tariff.

Coimbatore: The 14th District Conference of the Coimbatore District Auto Workers Union CITU was held at the Kerala Samaj BK Sukumar Memorial in Gandhipuram.

The conference was chaired by R Selvam, District President of the Association. Various resolutions were passed at this conference.

“As today's petrol and diesel prices have crossed 100 rupees, auto Spare Parts Price and RTO fees and insurance premiums have all risen crazily, the minimum distance price of Rs. 50/- for every next kilometer Rs. 25 / - should be discussed with the unions and notified immediately.

In Coimbatore district, a corporate company is engaged in illegal activity by using a private two-wheeler for rental use called Rapido Bike Taxi. Renting a two-wheeler is against the Motor Vehicle Act. So the state government should immediately ban bike taxi.

Multinational corporations such as Ola and Uber entered the auto industry as service industries and exploit auto drivers for millions of rupees. The government of Tamil Nadu should start an online app for autos and services to the public without allowing such activity as the public is being deceived and robbed. It should also benefit auto drivers.

There are 15,000 autos operating in Coimbatore within a radius of 10 km. There are 15,000 families dependent on these workers.

In today's world of automation can be a daunting task. Auto workers are in a position to spend most of their income on house rent. Therefore, the Tamil Nadu Government should provide accommodation to auto drivers registered with the Welfare Board through the Urban Housing Development Board.

The Tamil Nadu government should not implement the road safety bill introduced by the BJP government in Tamil Nadu. Completed flyovers in Coimbatore should be opened immediately.”

All these Resolutions were passed at the conference, including the need to expedite the completion of the above-mentioned works. New executives selected:

The conference elected a 37-member executive committee comprising IR. Selvam as the new president of the Coimbatore District Auto Workers Union, MK Muthukumar as the general secretary and M. Michael Sami as the treasurer. The conference was attended by more than 300 auto workers from across the district.
