Coimbatore: A young female doctor in Coimbatore died by suicide, six months after her marriage to a textile shop owner, Abhishek (30) who resides in Mettupalayam Co-operative Colony in Coimbatore district. Abhishek owns a textile shop in Gobichettipalayam and has been married to Rasi (27), a doctor, for just the past six months.

Rasi is said to have completed her MBBS in 2020 and was preparing to write NEET for a further PG course. She was staying at her parents' house in Kattoor area to study for the NEET exam. Rasi had reportedly told her parents that she was going to study on the third floor of the house on Thursday. When the parents realised that Rasi had not come down from the third floor of the house for a long time, they went up to the third floor to check on her. The parents were shocked to find that Rasi had ended her life by suicide, by hanging from the ceiling fan of the room.

Subsequently, the Mettupalayam police were informed. The police arrived at the scene and recovered Rasi's body and sent it to the Mettupalayam Government Hospital for autopsy.

The Revenue Commissioner is also investigating the suicide, since Rasi had been married for only six months. The police are trying to ascertain if the young female doctor commited suicide out of anxiety about the NEET exam or due to a family issue.
