ICCI leaders meet TN Chief Minister to present memorandum for infrastructure and industrial development for Coimbatore region

They also requested for Coimbatore and Bangalore to be connected better and for a four-lane tunnel of 18 kms to be planned across the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve along with a four-lane Expressway in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.


The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore President, C Balasubramanian along with the ICCI Vice President B Sriramulu and Hon. Secretaries C Dorairaj and S Natarajan met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin during the interaction with Industrial Associations in Coimbatore.

" We have presented a memorandum seeking the attention of the Chief Minister for issues which relate to the requirements of Infrastructure and Industrial Development for Coimbatore region. They are:

Road:

We appealed for extension of Elevated Highways on Avinashi Road up to the Eastern side near KMCH beyond Chinniampalayam, extension of Ukkadam– Athupalam flyover by 300 metres on the Pollachi Road, a new flyover to be built at Uppilipalayam since the present flyover is built in 1974, Karur–Coimbatore Green Field Expressway by National Highways Authority of India.

We also requested for Coimbatore and Bangalore to be connected better and a four-lane tunnel for 18 kms to be planned across the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve along with a four-lane Expressway in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Railways and Airport:

Formation of a separate ministry in Tamil Nadu for Railways, speedy completion of the Coimbatore Airport expansion project.

Property Tax:

We have appealed for favourable orders and to initiate action to reduce the property tax, considering the practical difficulties of the people.

* We appealed for representation of Coimbatore Chamber in the Committees of the State Government since this will help us to represent the subjects related to the respective Committees of the Government.

* To initiate action by concrete steps to control the prices of all raw materials to save MSMEs from the present crisis. We also urged for opening of SAIL Yard in Coimbatore and to ban export of all raw materials.

* Establishment of Multi-Modal Logistics Park in 100 acres of land to be identified near Irugur, Vellalore or Chettipalayam.

* Since Coimbatore is renowned as the Textile City, we appealed to the CM for a Mega Textile Park in Coimbatore, since the Central Government has sanctioned 7 Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel Parts (MITRA).

* Formation of IT Park, Semmozhi Poonga and Convention Centre at Coimbatore.

* Formation of Greater Coimbatore Tirupur Metropolitan Development Authority (CTMDA).

* Hostel for migrant labourers and creation of an industrial estate for Pump Sets, Wet Grinders, Jewellery Manufacturing and Electrical Vehicles.

* We also appealed for speedy release of Master Plan for Coimbatore.

* To introduce Single Window Clearance by a suitable software system, for sanction of building approvals.

The ICCI leaders also requested the CM for easing the traffic congestion at Mettupalayam Road flyover due to the construction work of three stretches along the Mettupalayam Road, Periyanaickenpalayam Road Junction and G N Mills Junction. They highlighted the absence of service roads in these areas. They further requested the CM to take action and instruct the concerned authorities to complete the work within the stipulated time.
