Fire Department rescues cow from 10 ft. deep roadside ditch in city's Thondamuthur area

The cow was grazing near the Thondamuthur Government Girls' High School but ended up falling into a 10 ft. deep ditch by the side of the road.


Coimbatore: Murthy hails from Thondamuthur in Coimbatore. He had allowed his cow to graze on Wednesday, near the Thondamuthur Government Girls' High School but the cow fell into a ditch about 10 ft. deep, on the side of the road.

The injured cow was in pain and hearing its cry, passers-by informed the Fire Department. Firefighters arrived with ropes, descended into the ditch and secured the cow's head and body. Then, they lifted the cow to safety after an hour-long struggle. The cow which was in distress was given water to calm down.

Later, a veterinarian in the city was called to administer necessary treatment for the cow.
