Worker killed in building wall collapse at petrol bunk premises in city's Sulur area

Coimbatore: A worker was tragically killed on the premises of a petrol bunk in Coimbatore's Sulur Papampatti-Chettipalayam Road. The petrol bunk is owned by the AIADMK Sulur Union Amma Council Secretary, Sakthivel.



It is reported that the foundation had not been laid for two small rooms which had been built on the premises. One of the walls was demolished to place a window in one room, while the other room was allocated for an ATM center.



Siva and Gopalsamy hailing from Velankudi were working inside when the wall collapsed suddenly and fell on both of them. Siva died on the spot while Gopalsamy is being treated at a hospital for injuries.

Upon receiving information, the Sulur police recovered Siva's body and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway.
