Chennai lorry driver robbed by men impersonating as CID police in Coimbatore - 3 arrested!

Police arrested the three men for extorting money from a lorry driver near Madukkarai, produced them in court and remanded them in custody.


Coimbatore: Men impersonating as CID police robbed a mini truck driver near Madukkarai in Coimbatore. Police have arrested the 3 of them today

Nagarajan (45) of Madurai Maduravayal parked his mini truck at a restaurant on the Coimbatore-Madukkarai-Neelambur highway early yesterday morning.

He then came out of the restaurant and tried to get into the truck. The four men who were standing there with bottles of liquor said they were CID police and asked to show documents claiming they suspected theft in the vehicle.

Nagarajan refused to show the documents. The four then attacked him and stole Rs.1,500. Nagarajan, who escaped from them, went inside the restaurant and narrated the incident. Police on duty on the highway patrol were then informed.

The 4-people who saw the police coming escaped in two two-wheelers. Patrol police loaded the lorry driver Nagarajan into their vehicle and chased them away. One escaped with his bullet when police tried to catch the four who were then standing near the bridge section.

Following this, when the police took the 3 trapped people and conducted an investigation, they were identified as Mohammad Ali, 43, of 6th Street, Athuppalam, Basha, 40, of Podanur, Samsuddin, 36, of Chinnammal Road, Podanur, and Azhar, 30, of Karumbukkadai.

Subsequently, the police arrested the three arrested, produced them in court and remanded them in custody.
