Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu organises volunteers and NGOs to remove plastic waste in Coimbatore Velliangiri Hills

Volunteers cleaned up the first hill and went up to the seventh hill to pick up all the plastic rubbish they could. Two tractor sized garbage was collected and disposed of.


Coimbatore: Volunteers have been working for the last 2-days (13.5.2022, 14.5.2022) to remove plastic waste from the Velliangiri hill and its foothills in Poondi.



Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu organised more than 350 volunteers have been removing plastic waste day and night for the past two days.



The volunteers, who had thoroughly cleaned the first hill, went up to the seventh hill and picked up all the plastic trash they could.



Two tractor sized garbage was collected and disposed of.



In addition, debris removal was carried out by a JCB machine.



With the permission of the Tamil Nadu Forest Department (Coimbatore Forest Department) with the help of Forest Officers and staff of the Department of Hindu Religious & Charitable Affairs, Coimbatore Ponds Conservation Organization, South Kayalaya Bhakti Peravai, Siruvani Vizhukal, Hindustan Education Board NSS & NCC, Thavathiru Santhalinga Adigalar College of Arts and Sciences and Tamil College, Sri Krishna College of Arts and Sciences, Gem college of arts and sciences, and volunteers from the Perks Matriculation School, college students and the general public involved themselves in this work.
