7.61 acres of temple land worth Rs 25 crore belonging to the Coimbatore Madukkarai Maariamman temple recovered

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu has reclaimed 7.61 acres of land worth Rs 25 crore belonging to the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple in the Madukkarai market area of Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Muthuvelappan and Saminathan hail from the Madukkarai market area of Coimbatore. They encroached and cultivated the 7.61 acres of land belonging to the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple. Based on a complaint, departmental officials, revenue officials, and Madukkarai police led by the Coimbatore Assistant Commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, R. Vijayalakshmi inspected the site on 11th Wednesday.



It was then revealed that they had been encroaching and cultivating on the temple land. Following this, the authorities reclaimed 7.61 acres of land and handed it over to Saranya, the executive officer of the temple, in public.

Subsequently, notice boards were placed on the land informing the public that it belonged to the temple.
