Airport authorities seized drugs worth Rs.2.67 crore from Ugandan woman - Airport Intelligence Unit reports!

Sandra Nandesha, 30, a Ugandan woman, who arrived on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah to Coimbatore on May 6 was investigated and subsequently arrested by airport intelligence.



Coimbatore: A Ugandan woman who arrived at the Coimbatore airport from Sharjah has been charged with possession of drugs worth Rs 2.67 crore, the airport intelligence officials released a notice.



Sandra Nandesha, 30, a Ugandan woman, who arrived on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah to Coimbatore on May 6 was investigated and subsequently arrested by airport intelligence. She was charged with the possession of drugs worth 2.67 crores.

Following this, she was produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.

In the notice issued by the Airport Intelligence officials, it said that:

A Ugandan woman who arrived on a flight from Sharjah smuggled drugs across international borders. They stashed the drugs in her stomach in the form of a pill.



The drugs were confiscated by the authorities. It contained about 892 grams of drugs in 81 tablets. The total value of the drugs has been ascertained to be Rs 2.67 crores. The woman was arrested and is currently lodged in the Puzhal jail in Chennai.
