Coimbatore: Ponnuchamy hails from Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. He was professionally engaged in real estate. Along with him, MG Rajan and Muthukumar were both involved in the real estate business.

Ponnuchamy had taken a loan of Rs.50 lakhs from Rajan for business purposes a few years ago. They asked him to pay back Rs.3 crore with interest. However, there were delays in returning this amount which led to a dispute between them.

A few days ago, they called him saying that someone had come to buy the land owned by Ponnuchamy near Tudiyalur. Ponnuchamy, who was there at the time, was brutally stabbed to death by Rajan and Muthukumar.

A case was registered, and the two perpetrators were arrested by the Tudiyalur police. The district superintendent of Police Badrinarayanan recommended that they arrest Rajan under the Tamil Nadu Goondas Act. Following this, District Collector G.S. Sameeran ordered the arrest of Rajan under the Tamil Nadu Goondas Act.

Following this, Rajan, who brutally murdered Ponnuchamy, was charged under the Tamil Nadu Goondas Act.

It is vital to note that both Rajan and Ashok Kumar, who are the prime perpetrators in the Ponnuchamy murder case, are currently under arrest under the Tamil Nadu Goondas Act.
